Construction estimating software features

Sections and line items

Group the estimate into sections, each with its line items, quantity, unit price and tax.

Takeoffs that do the math

Enter units and dimensions (units × length × width × height) on each line and the quantity is calculated for you.

A starter cost book

Start from 40 common line items with reference prices and adjust them to your own.

Internal cost and margin

See your cost and margin on every estimate. The customer only sees prices.

Your default terms

Validity, terms and payment method filled in on every estimate, and changeable on each one.

E-signature on a link

Your customer views the estimate, downloads the PDF and signs or declines it online. You’re notified when they open it.

Versions without the mess

Edit an estimate after sending it and the next version is created automatically.

Expiry on its own

Once the validity date passes, the estimate is marked as expired.

From estimate to invoice

Invoice the total, a deposit or the balance, with one line per section.

A construction estimate isn’t a price list

A price list says what a square foot of tile costs. An estimate has to say how many square feet this bathroom has, where they come from and what you make on them. When the measurements live on a notepad and the prices in a spreadsheet, a single typo ends up in the customer’s total.

Construction estimating software keeps the takeoff inside each line item, so anyone can see where a quantity came from, and keeps your margin next to the price, where you can check it before you send.

Example: bathroom wall tile, from takeoff to total

The wall tile line item has two walls of 8.5 ft by 8 ft and one of 5 ft by 8 ft. You enter them as takeoff lines and the software adds up 176 sq ft. At $18.00 per sq ft that’s $3,168.00.

Floor tile is one area of 9 ft by 6 ft: 54 sq ft at $16.50, $891.00. Add demolition and the shower pan and the Tile and shower section comes to $6,859.00.

With the other sections, the estimate totals $14,860.00 before tax, and your internal cost leaves a 22.0% margin. The customer gets a link, asks to drop the glass door, you edit it, version 2 goes out, and they sign it online.

Keep the takeoff even for simple lines. When the customer asks “why 176 square feet?”, the answer is right there in the estimate.

Who this construction estimating software is for (and who it isn’t for)

It’s built for remodelers, builders and specialty contractors who estimate by sections and need quantities they can back up.

It’s not what you’re looking for if you need:

  • Unit-cost breakdowns into labor, materials and equipment, or separate overhead and profit lines.
  • Importing a cost database from another program.
  • Side-by-side comparison of two versions, or automatic follow-ups on unanswered estimates.
  • Simple estimates without takeoffs: estimate software is lighter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my cost database from Excel?

Not today. You start from a cost book of 40 common line items and adjust the prices to your own. Customers, services and products can be imported from Excel or CSV.

Does it break line items down into labor, materials and equipment?

No. Each line item has one unit price, and each estimate keeps its internal cost and margin.

What happens if I change an estimate after sending it?

A new version is created, so you always know what the customer saw and signed.

Can I invoice in parts?

Yes. From an accepted estimate you invoice the total, a deposit or the balance. The invoice shows one line per section.

How much does the construction estimating software cost?

US$16.95 a month, one plan with every feature included, month to month: cancel anytime.
